Would it be stupid to learn to drive in an automatic?

We in the UK live in the dark ages, if you go to America they stopped driving Manual cars 50 years ago, Australia also drive mostly Automatic, if you listen the the local news you will also know car manufacturers are phasing out manual cars, the new generation of cars will all be electric automatic, The government has announced plans to ban the sale of conventional combustion engine cars and vans by 2040 as part of its efforts to tackle air pollution and climate change, that will mean electric automatic only.

How is this relevant? We are not in Australia or the United States, and we live in the present, not 2040.

When you are buying a first car in 2018 and are typically met with something that looks like this:

Where even a manual that'll actually run for less than 2k is hard to come across (and that you'll get insured on), it's a no-brainer decision to make.
