I just want to see what people's opinions are on this because it seems to be a very controversial topic.

Yes. My father use to always swear at cars doing bad things calling them "###### paki" and the likes. I totally disagree with this on every level as its racist, However I think because of this I do get more nervous around a stranger of that category than others [if I already know the person i'm fine though], I try not to but it seems to be embedded into me [however it goes without saying I would never purposely be annoyed/angry with someone solely for being of a certain category]. I think it will probably be mainly eliminated in the next generation.

Very true, could you argue that racism is more pointed towards the blacks though? For obvious reasons like 400 years of slavery. Interested to know.

I think in the western world we only see the minor examples of racism. What about slavery of black individuals in Libya, happening right now? And the
obvious inequalities in areas like economies etc?

In western societies- individual yes. Institutional- no
Although there are two definitions of racism- one modern and one traditional so i guess the level of individual racism depends on which definition your talking about.

Yeah, it still exists, maybe not as explicit in the west (however, if you look on social media sites, it's more vocal). But it's still there.

Duh, of course it still exists - the debate is on how much there is, and how it is expressed (to a certain amount).

Regarding Insititutional racism, the most common example I can give is people not giving people of ethnic minorities jobs based on their nationality. Also I guess the current problem of black individuals(especially males) being punished far worse for the same crime a white person has commited . Like the media seems to portray white criminals as 'mentally ill' and other races as 'monsters'. Let's not forget the media industry is predominantly of white ethnicity.
Would you still say this type of racism isn't evident?

Systemically and indirectly, yes to any minority as I am one myself but white people get racist remarks thrown at them directly.

This is a very broad question and many people seem to address it in regards to people making comments or passing racist remarks but it's not just that. Racism against all minorities exists today in more ways than you can think of. Minorities are consistently oppressed whether or not we realise it. Yeah, people may not be as overtly racist towards people now a days but the systematic oppression still exists against minorities. Take the case of Stephon Clark and the case of Nikolas Cruz in America. Stephon Clark was a unarmed black man who was shot over twenty times because the police believed he was holding a weapon. Even if he was holding a weapon, what justifies this level of violence towards someone holding a weapon that is clearly less dangerous than the gun you hold? And then there's Nikolas Cruz, the white boy who shot and killed 17 students in his old high school, when he was finally apprehended by the police he was holding his weapon but did he get shot? Nope, he was instead tackled to the ground until he was escorted to the station. There are so many more unnecessary killings of black people by white police officers who get let off and are allowed to return to their jobs. Do you see the way in which minorities are oppressed this way?

Now back to the UK. The amount of hate crimes against minorities increased tenfold after the Brexit announcement- the entirety of Brexit was essentially based on stricter immigration laws. I think that gives you a good insight into the minds of many people throughout the country.

Racism will always exist in society when we consistently give racist people a platform (Donald Trump) to spout their racist views.

It is "evident" when there is evidence provided.

In america many black men were put to death by an all white jury when they were innocent, racism is alive and kicking. Being black and a woman puts you at the bottom of the food chain, being white and male puts you at the top of the food chain. A lot of time you won't be hired because of the colour of your skin, people are that retarded. They would rather hire an incompetent white male than a competent black female for the same job.

Asians and indians fit inbetween the two with males taking priority over women.

Black woman < Black man < Indian woman/ Chinese woman/ Arab woman < Indian man/ Chinese man/ Arab man < White woman < White man
