As part of my final year dissertation, I am conducting some research into the commodification of ‘fun’ and sugar content in food products that are aimed at children. It would be very helpful for this research if you could fill out this questionnaire about your experiences of purchasing ‘fun foods’ for your children aged between 4-11 years.

The term ‘fun food’ refers to food that is marketed to attract children, where food products are sold as ‘fun’ to eat or as ‘edible entertainment’. This can include games or competitions on the product packaging, toys or gifts included or ‘fun’ TV and movie characters. This includes products such as happy meals, cereals with games or activities on the back, yoghurts and fruit juices, etc.

All data collected will remain anonymous so please answer with honesty. This questionnaire will close on the 26th February and you have the right to withdraw until the 18th March.“

Is this only relevant if your children are that age now?

Children being targeted by unethical companies has been going on for years.
