I didnt start my job til 8th Dec meaning i didnt get paid in December.
At the end of Jan i was expecting to be paid for Dec and Jan, but i only got paid for Dec. Turns out im being paid a month behind? So i have to wait until the end of this month just to get my Jan pay. The concept of being paid in arrears seem a lil strange.
Basically im just wondering if this is common or not?

Check this - most people are paid in arrears but I get paid for Jan at the end of Jan, Feb at the end of Feb etc.

    What does your contract say?

Yes it's really common.. It ensures that when (or if) you leave for a new job then you still have a month being paid before your pay from your new job comes in.
It's actually more common to be paid in arrears than it is to be paid for that month at the end of the month
