I am doing Higher English and as an international student, I don’t have any experience of writing critical essays for English literature (despite the fact that I hold an BA Hons degree). I struggle mostly with characterisation, I understand what features it should include - setting, dialogue, structure, word choice (anything else?). However, I don’t know how to relate it to a character. I am doing The Great Gatsby. Is there anyone who wouldn’t mind to share an example? Thank you very much.
