    Hey guys,

I love politics and study it at degree level.

I'm hoping to work in field when I graduate, so have been looking at civil service fast stream and parliamentary jobs.

However, I'm not loving the pay and wanted to know if there are any better paying career paths that involve politics / public policy?

Maybe others will think differently but IMO if you want good money politics isn't the right sector for you. The Civil Service Fast Stream offers good pay compared to other entry level Politics jobs. Maybe working in a policy role for a private company might get you more money.

If you want to get into the Fast Stream, then it's not the pay you should be worrying about - it's the low acceptance rate!

From what I've read, if you want a parliamentary job, you're going to have to start off pretty junior. Have a look on the work4mp website.

Also try and get hold of some internships at various think-tanks, do some networking and try and get hold of some contacts.
