Does hair dye expire? watch

I'm re-dying my hair the same colour as last time. I last dyed it about 6 months ago. I found a bottle of dye that must be from the last time in a cupboard. Since my hair is quite long/thick I bought another bottle of the same brand and same colour and since it was BOGOF I wound up with 3 bottles. (All Boots, semi-permanent own brand black dye) I've just mixed the first dye and developer and one of the newer ones so they're ready to go and I've noticed that the design of the bottles is a little different and the colour doesn't look quite the same...
Is it okay or would it be a better idea to use both new bottles and ditch the older one?

Check the pack to see if it is dated. If not it should be fine. You could also contact the company or check on Google.
If it looks or feels unusual though I would avoid using it just to be sure.
Oh remember to do a skin test btw (easy to forget)
