    Hi,

I was born in the United States and lived here my whole life. Recently, I was accepted into a university in London, so I will be an international student very soon. I'm unfortunately estranged from my parents, therefore I will be on my own finance wise. My boyfriend lives in the UK and I plan on living with him, but I'm a little confused on how to apply for student finance or if I even qualify for it. I am 19 and am in my second semester of university in the US, and by the time I arrive in London I will have finished my first year at a higher education institute. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

You won't qualify as you ll have to have lived here for over 3 years and have a certain residential status.

    Hi Ari919,

Currently you would not be eligible to apply for support through Student Finance England.

Nationals from countries outside the UK and EU/EAA, should hold either Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Indefinite Leave to Enter (ILE) status and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the first day of the first academic year of the course.

    Regards Rona
