1a) Consider the sine rule with the 2 sides you know.

1b) Just apply the sine formula for area of a triangle

As for Q2, well, it's kinda hard to see what it's asking for
7. Problem 1:

You know sin(180-x) = sin(x) therefore sin(120) = sin(60) = root 3/2
Sin45 = root 2/2
You know by the sine rule that (4x-1) / sin45 = (8x-3) / sin120
(4x-1) / (root 2/2) = (8x-3) / (root 3/2)

Rearrange these and solve for x. You may need to factor the x and then rationalise the denominator etc.

b) You know the area of a triangle is given by 1/2 ab Sin C. Find a length or use it or find sin(15) (which is sin(45-30)). If you're in AS, use the sine/cosine rule to find a third length and then apply the formula.

sorry, q2 says

a) find the distance between boats q and r
b)find the 3 figure bearing of boat r from q

2a) Find the angle between the two lengths then use the cosine rule

2b) is a bit awkward to explain on what exactly to do. You just need to use the sine rule to determine the angle at Q, but that's not enough. If you extend the north line at Q downwards a bit you can easily deduce the angle between this vertical line and the line PQ. Then the bearing should just be 180-(angle from sine)-(deduced angle)
