I’m applying to halls this year and don’t know whether to go for mixed or single sex. I like the idea of single sex but I lived in an all girls flat before and hated it, although I think it was just a complete personality clash.
I’d like to know what other people would pick/have picked and why?
    Thanks

Literally depends on the people. I live with 2 girls and 1 guy and it's fine. They're all really messy though which is a huge pain. Like is it that hard to wash up as you go along, not leaving them piled in the sink soaking in cold water.

I picked a mixed sex flat, as I had no particular objections to males given that we all had an ensuite to ourselves anyway. I live with 5 guys and 1 girl, and the guys are by far the messiest/least hygienic. They also make a lot of noise, and as their voices are deeper so the noise carries. This is just my personal experience though, and it's all down to luck who you get as flatmates, whether you choose single sex or not.

From my past experiences, the majority of people who choose single sex accommodation are international students, but they are by no means the only group that might choose single sex.
