    hey everyone
so as the title says i have been having knee pain.
so heres a back story : back in November time i was going to gym around 4- five times a week in an attempt to lose weight and tone up etc , usually having the weekends off . This particular week i had both friday saturday and sunday off. Not planned just didnt have time and wasnt availble to go and thought i would enjoy the rest. That sunday - my gym day off i was walking around town etc and when i got home thought hmm my knee hurts a bit didnt think of it much. Anyway i got into gym that monday and i had warmed up on the tredmill and was starting to jog and slightly run when i felt like my whole left leg was dragging and not moving . I looked down and noticed my left leg was slightly slower and dragging , and i had an intense pain from my left knee. I immediatley stopped streched and tried to continue and it went . Any other exercise machine i went on it also hurt so i took the intestity of the machines down and cut my workout short. Anyway as i got to uni my knee was hurting . As the week progressed it was hurting alot - i practicaly decided to go extremly light on my gym sessions that week and most were cut shirt to 20 mins mainly doing arms and had friday to sunday off. Walking sitting standing my knee was in pain, more so sitting. I started to have a slight limp when i walked and my knee was in agony. I did the whole rice - rest ice compression elevation and it did help for five mins or so but didnt after. My left knee was slightly swollen , i tried to bandage it in an attempt which helped alot when sleeping as before the pain was too much.

The pain was a mix of heat like intense heat around my left knee and slightly below it in combination with stiffness and a pins and needles pain - like a few times my left knee would have this intense heat pain and pins and needles which made sitting in lecture halls agony .

Anyway i planned on going to the docs after two weeks if it didnt get better
on the second week it was going better and on the wed and thursday of the second week (week after) the pain was like 95 percent gone. I then started to up my gym workouts and bam on that friday my knee went back into agony do much so my mom noticed me limping around the house . I googled some streches and exercises to help.

The third week - i did one particular stretch and Omg i felt all the tension and pain in my leg - i did it on both legs and my left leg wowzer it ****ing killed. I did it a few times and when i was walking to uni i felt a massive change. IT FELT SO MUCH BETTER. i decided not to go to the doc as it was sorted and continued to stretch etc.

Fastforward to now. Since mid january my knee has been hurting occasionly when working out , it did hurt before but this but i presumed it was recovering. If im on a crosstrainer or doing weight s or bending my leg or knee it will hurt. I decided i needed to do more knee exercises to strengthen my knee. I did some single leg extention raises on the machine a light weight that i could manage on each leg . My left leg IS WEAKER i dont mean by a bit but alot , i can do more weights and reps on my right . I can do half the weight and my left and less than half the reps -25 kg and 3 reps and my whole left leg shakes . When im doing the bike etc i can feel my right leg pushing more faster and harder and my left not doing much.

i didnt thibk much of it and thought i needed to build my strenght up but i was surprised it fell by this much is it normal?
two weeks ago i felt the knee pain coming on more frequently , and again cut my workouts short and light intensity and loads of stretches . Last week i have been having pain in my left leg again - my knee.
i was walking on a high gradient but low spee d and one minute thirty seconds in my knee was in agony .
Its been hurting every now and then and for the pst three days has been hurting consitantly around the evening time - whether im sitting ir standing . I m also a student nurse and when i was on placement last thirsday i was doing a slight limp two hours into my shift - i was. working a 12 hr shift it was aching.

im really concerned now especially as i feel occasionly a slight pain in my right knee too in small bursts as if its taking the strain.

any help and ideas? Should i go see the doctor? ( i was slightly putting this off as i thought he would judge me as i am overweight 5 ft 11 and 13.5 stones- thinking he would blame it on my weight and tell me to lose weight etc. but i have been working out for the longest time i even did a sports course last year doing sports 2/3 times a day and never felt such pain. and i am working to reduce my weight and tone up.

would going to the doc help , what would he do
has anyone experienced something like this??
    Many thanks guys
i really cant wait to see if someone has gone through something simmilar - my knees hurting as im writing this hahahah

Go to your GP. They'll probably have a bit of a feel of it, maybe move it around a bit then will either give you advice on what to do about it or send you to somebody who specialise more in that area (probably the first).
Even if your weight might be contributing that's still no reason to put up with pain and your GP should be able to help support things out.
Until then I would suggest laying off the exercise. If it has been hurt or damaged somehow it will need time to heal and in general too much strain isn't good for pain. If you want to keep doing some exercise whole or heals try something with less leg impact.

Good luck with your appointment and feeling better
