I can't remember where I read it, but I read that it doesn't matter what you get on your TMAs but your exam results classify your grade for the entire year?

They don't average it out with your essay results?

I know what you're getting at, but it's not exactly this.

Most modules have two components: a coursework part, OCAS (overall continuous assessment score) and an examination pay, OES (overall examination score, although it isn't always an actual exam, sometimes it may be a final assignment). Usually, your module grade is, effectively, determined by whichever the best grade band is that both of these elements are in. (The exact rules are slightly more complicated but that's the effect.)

So, if your OCAS was in the band for a Pass 1 but your OES got the grade for a Pass 3, then in theory your grade for the module would be a Pass 3. But it's also true the other way around - Pass 3 OCAS + Pass 1 OES would probably = a Pass 3. However, in practice, the exam board will sometimes adjust things if you were closer to a different band - so if you were a couple of marks ask from a different band in one or other, they might bring it up.
