I would love to go and do medicine at uni and am predicted 8/9 for all subjects at GCSE. I really struggle in English with getting the words from my head on to the paper. I was originally predicted grade 8 for both lit and Lang but moved it done to a grade 7. For sixth forms I need at least a 6 but I am genuinely concerned that I won’t get it. Especially in lit where the questions can be so vague. In a lit past paper it was asking ‘how is mr utterson shown as a Victorian gentleman?’ (From Jekyll and Hyde) I mean that question is so random like??!!!!
Does anyone have some great tips for English especially if you really struggled but managed to get a good grade in the end. I should hopefully be getting extra time so that is a bonus!

Ask your teacher for a copy of the mark scheme. This won't usually change from year to year. (The examples related to the question will be different, but the Assessment Objectives stay the same). Look at what is needed for a higher grade, and what isn't mentioned. As long as you can meet the criteria in the mark scheme you will get the grade. If you write about things not on the mark scheme you won't get any credit. Some sample mark schemes can be downloaded from the exam board website, but these are just samples, and may not be exactly the same as those used for real exams.
