I'm currently studying part time MSc Finance with the OU, and have received one payment of £1130 from my PG loan (max amount requested) so far. I am now considering changing to an MSc in a different subject starting September 2018 at Nottingham University. I cannot seem to find out whether this counts as a transfer for the purposes of the PG loan... If I do withdraw and restart, will I be able to take the remainder of my PG loan with me to the new course at Nottingham?

Are maintenance loans available for open university?
Hello,

Was wondering if anyone could give me some clarification to SFE
I am currently undergoing my second year part time ba honours with the OU. I am in the second year and once this has been completed will equate to the first year of soon full time. I am looking to attend my local uni in sept 2018 to complete my remaining 2 Years full time at the bricks and mortar uni. How would this affect my finance application? Would I still be entitled to full funding as I’m not doing a new course just doing a credit transfer to a different uni? My circumstances won’t have changed (LP with 2 deps and working pt) but just worried that student finance would only pay for Part funding even though it’s the same course and going towards the same degree??

Any help would be much appreciated
Thank you

Unfortunately as this is specific to a post graduate loan query i am unable to answer this. There is a live webchat available on Thursday 15/02/18 from 19.00 - 20.00. They will then be able to answer this query. Alternatively our helpline is available from 08.00 - 18.00 Monday - Friday on 0300 100 0031.

Are maintenance loans available for open university?

The Department for Education (DfE) are introducing a part time maintenance loan (PTML) for eligible part time undergraduate students who are commencing a new part time course from academic year 2018/19. This loan will be available in addition to the existing tuition fee loan and disabled students allowance.

Maintenance grants are no longer available from the academic year 2016/2017 only maintenance loans are now available. Supplementary grants such as Grants for dependents can take anywhere between 4-6 weeks to complete.

Many thanks,
Ryan

Hi Taylorh91

Just to confirm before I could give you any specific information I would need to know if other than studying part time for 2 years did you do any other form of higher education prior to this?

regards,
Ryan
