Im in my first year of uni and am considering leaving for a few reasons. I received the second installment of my maintenance loan at the start of January, with the third not due until the start of April. If I was to leave now, would I be required to pay back any of my maintenance loan that I have received immediately, or I will it wait until I am earning above the threshold? I've tried researching this but find conflicting answers.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Catbrooo,

If you withdraw from university during a term, you will likely have a loan overpayment. The amount of the overpayment will depend on the date you withdraw. If you leave during term 2, you won't be required to pay of the 1st installment back until you're earning over the threshold, but some of the 2nd installment will be classed as an overpayment and you'll be contacted to arrange repaying the amount. You don't have to pay the full amount at once, you can set up a payment plan if that were to suit you better.

    I hope this information helps.

    Kind regards,

    John.
