Hi! What funding is available for Graduate entry Medicine?
Also the majority of graduate entry courses are 4 years long but at Imperial it is 5 years. Would that year be treated the same as the previous years?
Hi Ellie

As from the 2017/2018 academic year, Student's studying NHS courses are eligible for a Tuition Fee loan up to £9250 and a full means tested Maintenance loan (if required).

You will also be eligible for Grants for Dependents - Parent's Learning Allowance, Childcare Grant and Adult's Dependent Grant (if applicable) and the Disabled Student's Allowance

These can be applied for when submitting your initial application and we would request evidence/additional forms from you after this point

Please check for additional funding: https://www.gov.uk/student-finance/extra-help

Thanks

Hi

Graduate entry medicine courses are eligible for both maintenance support and tuition fee loan.

Year 1 The student will have to self fund the first £3465, however a tuition fee loan will be available for the remainder up to £5,785.

Year 2-4 - The first £3,715 will be paid by the Department of Health and a tuition fee loan will be available for the remainder of up to £5,535.

Maintenance Support

Year 1 The student can apply for a Full Means Tested Maintenance Loan and Supplementary Grants.

Year 2-4 The student is eligible to apply for the Income Assessed NHS Bursary and Supplementary Grants from the NHS. They can only apply to Student Finance England for a reduced rate Maintenance Loan.

If the course is 5 years students can receive the usual package of support available to undergraduates in their first 4 years of study (Maintenance/Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Support such as Means Testing ML, Special Support/Maintenance Grant and DSA if applicable) subject to previous study. In the 5th and subsequent years of study they are entitled to an income-assessed NHS bursary and therefore, the reduced rate of maintenance loan only from SLC.
