Hi, eldest going to English University for first time in October. When does the application for maintenance loan get submitted and by whom? Do us parents complete it or is it the student and who arranges this? I know that the amount awarded depends on the
Income of parents. My wife retires in September and as a result our family income will fall substantially. How can I
ensure this change in circumstances so near to her University start date is taken into account so we receive the
correct loan for our circumstances.
Many thanks
i have now submitted my application for sf(parent's need to fully complete income yet though, parents bit is not complete done),but may change my mind on which unis i want to go to ie after gaining results, or wish to go a closer/further uni to home(However my FINANCIAL SITUATION will not be reassessed, i will still get the same maintennce loan, as i will still live at the uni).

i think i was told before that i can make any changes to my sf application about uni change, online. However i was on my sf application, and i can't find anything to do with changing uni's ONLINE, only a change of circumstances form. On the change of circumstances form, it says this, i have attached a photoAttachment 652938. So how do i make the uni change online, rather than through the form?

Will i have to fill in the change of circumstances form, or is there a way i can change my uni's online?

thank you

Hey guys, basically I was repeating a year the semester that just passed. However due to family and medical issues (mum being in hospital for major surgery and my own health being really poor) I'm concerned my exams will be in a bad state, Due to this I am considering changing my course entire (going from Physics to Maths), I already claimed for funding during my repeat year but will be able to claim SAAS again as the circumstances are out with my control, I also applied for a student living loan, will this also be affected? Thank you.

Hi,

To make changes to the university or course on your application I would always advise, prior to the course start date, to do this via your online account. However, depending on the status of your application, it may not allow you to make the changes and in this instance it will direct you to print the CO1 form.
Hi
In regards to the application for the Maintenance loan this is included within the student finance application that your daughter will complete for their student support.
Student applications for the 18/19ay are now open and your daughter can register and create a student finance account by going on to the www.gov.uk website and going to the student finance section.
As part of the application the student will be asked if they wish to be assessed on household income, if this is selected once their application has been submitted we will ask you as parents to provide financial information in support of the Applcation.

We will ask you to provide Financial information from the 16/17 Tax year, if your household income is going to reduce during the academic year 18/19 by at least 15% compared to the 16/17 Tax year due to your wife retiring this can be taken into account.
From April their will be a form available called a current year income form and on this you can both provide an estimate of your estimated income for the 18/19 Tax year, if this shows an estimated drop of more than 15% we can reassess the student on a provisional basis based on these estimates and then at the end of the Tax year we will ask you to provide evidence to confirm actual income.

Hi,

If a student has to repeat a year of study, or had to suspend/withdraw from their course, we would use their Previous Study to calculate their future entitlement to funding.
A student may want us to consider their extenuating circumstances when making this calculation, also known as their Compelling Personal Reasons (CPR).
Based on the information you have provided I would advise you to call your award authority to discuss your account and your personal circumstances.

Hi
If you are on placement for the full year and going from a paid placement to an unpaid placement your funding award will not increase in regards to the maintenance Loan it will stay as a reduced rate Maintenance loan. The only exception to this would be if your unpaid work placement was in a hospital, health or Local Authority, prison or probation sector
That's the end of the webchat. Thank you to Stephen and Alison for answering the questions!
