Recently, a lot of decisions have been thrown my way about A level choices and future careers paths. Whilst all the people around me are making solid decisions about their futures, all I can think about is my anxiety around the future. I don't know what I want to study at uni or what general career path I want to go down, let alone what A levels to choose. I know I'm at an early stage in my education (year 11) but ultimately A levels will lead to university and if I choose something I don't want next year then it will be too late. How do I feel motivated to succeed and find the career path that's right for me, thanks.

[so far I've considered civil engineering, pharmaceutical careers, medicine, architecture and accountancy]

It's completely natural to feel this kind of anxiety when thinking about your future career. I can assure you that the people around you that seem to be making solid decisions are just as nervous as you are about their decisions- maybe even have a chat with friends about this.

My advice would definitely be to research more about those careers- all those careers are so different, so try to think about parts you like about them and weigh up the pros and cons, so you can at least narrow it down enough to chose subjects suited to it. But, more than anything, you should be choosing a level subjects you enjoy, as this will likely lead you down a path you will also enjoy.

Remember: you can switch courses early on into year 12.
