is it worth doing a business course in uni, what sort of jobs could you go into straight out of it?

I chose to study Management at Bath and I would definitely say the course has given me lots of employable skills. Our assignments are very practical, for example writing group reports and delivering presentations and many of the examples that are talked about in lectures are very current.

In terms of job prospects, the university placement scheme means that many students leave with not only a degree, but also 12-months work experience. There is a dedicated placements team who have a lot of industry contacts and who provide help with applications to placements, such as reviewing cover letters, CVs and arranging mock interviews.

In my experience, there has been a huge variety of jobs on offer, and many of the required skills are covered in the course. There are roles in HR, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Sales, PR, Finance, Analytics and many more that you wouldn't even know existed. There are a lot of large companies that take on placement students such as Loreal, Disney, Dyson, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, EY, PWC, Apple and more, but also Start-Ups take on interns. In terms of placements, some students are accelerated onto the graduate scheme so they have a job sorted for when they finish studying.

The beauty of a business degree is that is is broad and gives you lots of job options, but it is important to be sure that you are interested in it and will enjoy studying it for 3 years. The breadth was really important to me, as I didn't have a clue what job I wanted to do!
