I have chosen English literature, Economics and Mathematics for my A levels. However, many people have been telling me that this isn’t a good combination. Is there some truth to these statements? Is this a bad combination? Are these good subjects? What do you guys think? What sort of jobs/degrees can u do with these a levels?

    All responses are highly appreciated

In my opinion those are good choices that can open up a lot of doors. Don’t read too closely into ‘good options’ or ‘bad options’ because mostly people don’t know what they’re talking about.

At my Oxford interview a lot of the applicants for Law made fun of my choices, said they were ‘easy’ A-Levels and I was offered a place.

If you impress and do well at those A-Levels then that is fantastic. The only subjects you’d be limited with would be the sciences but I assume if you wanted to do medicine etc that you’d know what A-Levels you need to take and would’ve picked accordingly.

If those are the 3 subjects you enjoy the most and can do well in then they are brilliant.

As to university courses, you can do anything from Maths to Law or Economics or a huge range in between.
