subject?
Do you honestly think making a poll will help you make this decision. It's one of those times that when you know the facts, only you can make the decision.

What do you want to study?

Is it the durham main campus or the queens campus in stockton?

History - Main Durham campus.

I've looked into detail into the courses at each uni and like them both.

I haven't been up to the main campus at Durham (only queens campus) but i have a friend there and he loves it!

I've also applied to Warwick and have an offer on Microbiology.

To be honest i'd pick Durham as you are close to Newcastle

Depends how you feel about being on a campus i think. both are academically very good but warwick is not really near any decent towns; i think coventry and lemington-spa are meant to be a bit nasty. i personally really liked the warwick campus but you can't live on it for all 3 years, and it is a bit of a hassle to get in to the uni when living outside i think
Depends on the subject, Warwick is a very respected uni and so is Durham.
I think for your subject Durham is better...

That can be seen as a guideline if you think rankings are important, otherwise both are great and you can happily decide!

Leamington Spa - nasty??????? Are you serious??????

It's one of the nicest tows I've been to. It's beautiful and even has a reputation for being a bit snobby.

Ah maybe I'm wrong, i just drove through it briefly and didn't see much.
And with the whole league tables thing, i think there is little enough difference between them for it to be inconsequential. tbh it's just about which one you like more! if it was me i would probably go for durham for history as I liked the town and perhaps would be slightly put off by warwick being a campus uni but in truth it is all about personal preference i think - both are great
For the subject there is quite a bit of difference in the league tables... 8 places I think, and that is quite a big gap!

Durham is more respected than Warwick, however the town is also more dangerous (the university has a bad relationship with the people of the town because the locals didn't get the opportunity to go to university and blah di blah di blah). Durham's prettier too.

Durham is a lot safer than Warwick, unless you are really really foolish, then nothing will happen to you. Coventry on the other hand, I doubt I would feel as safe going out in.

Didn't you ask this a week ago?

In which case the answers from that thread are still valid and I'm not going to type my opinion out again...

Maybe it has improved since I lived there then. There were weekly reports of students being beaten up by locals.

It all depends which league table you use - some put them much closer together

I do not know of anyone who has been beaten up by locals. As long as you avoid the fighting cocks on friday and saturday nights you are safe pretty much.

i will choose Durham over Warwick  as it's even better than Oxford for history...you can't really say this but Durham is more famous for humanities subjects.

You do realise that just because The Times says it's so, doesn't mean it's so, right? I mean, they rated Durham 3rd for Philosophy and even Durham wouldn't believe that.
But its a good indication isn't it? They put Oxbridge top for most subjects but that might not be true either? Its just the faith we put in those ranking systems, otherwise we could all say that Oxbridge isn't as good as it really is. I am not saying Oxford or Cambridge don't deserve their reputation, merely suggesting that the ranking system has to be trusted otherwise we don't really know which department is good for what.

I think for your subject, Durham has a better reputation - but Warwick is also still an excellent university. It's interesting that you genuinely like both courses, because I've heard they're quite different. Maybe if you consider them both again, you'll find one appeals to you more? Otherwise, there's not much in it in terms of reputation overall, so you might have to choose based on where you'd like to live. In which case, an opinion from me or anybody else won't be that valid, because we'd be choosing based on our own opinions.
