Hi, I have been accepted to Aberystwyth and Leeds Beckett universities both for the filmmaking course and now I am thinking where to go. Please, can you recommend me which one to choose? Which filmmaking course is better and good for future employment?

Aberstywth has a slightly better employment rate of 95.7% to 91% but otherwise there doesn't appear to be a major difference between the two. Do you prefer the modules of either option?

Aber is attractive to a lot of students on the filmmaking/media/drama courses as Wales is investing heavily in the film/TV industry. Filmmakers and TV location managers are flocking to Wales after the success of Hinterland/Y Gwyll which was filmed in Aber and Ceredigion. There is a growing potential of film/TV jobs as a result and many students are excited about these new opportunities.

The BBC 1 new series Requiem was filmed in N Wales. Students at Aber have also had the opportunity to become involved with S4C the Welsh TV channel and have been involved in Hinterland.

The Welsh govt is increasing expenditure in the film industry in Wales and so it is quite an exciting place to be at the moment for students.

I know nothing about Leeds Beckett but my niece and son are both at Aber.

I heard there are staff redundancies happening at Aber including in Film. Might be worth checking this out.
