Park and Ride? Parking in Cambridge is a pain and very expensive!
Reply 4
cool thanks. but what about overnight?

do some colleges have parking spaces????

Cheers
Reply 5
parking in Cambridge, as in Oxford is literally impossible (unless one happens to have shedloads of cash)

One of the normal residential streets, outside of the ringroad area. It won't be popular with residents, but would be free! (Not close to college, though, probably). Alternatively, ask your college -- they might have a place or two spare.
Reply 7
Most colleges only have parking spaces for staff. But there's no harm in asking! Apart from that, i dont know!

Hmm... out by Grange Rd are some streets where cars can be left seemingly indefinitely (I take no responsibility if a traffic warden magically turns up though)... where I live there's a 'visitors car park' but you're not allowed to stay more than a couple of hours.

Do colleges have parking? Or do you guys know where we could leave our car? Thanks

What college are you in?
i.e. when I visited my Cambridge friends last year, I parked on the road.
For example on the roads near Selwyn College.
There are parking meters down there by Selwyn.
Do you have any friends tht live out of college that have parking spaces?

Not where I parked there were not.
i.e. I was not on Newham road.

The road I was on was parralel to the rugby ground if that helps.

It's always worth asking college about that kind of thing. ;yes;

If all else fails, there's always the carpark outside the front of the UL too, that's never locked.

I know the dilemma has already been solved, but I thought I'd point out Adams Road. It's free, you can leave your car there indefinitely and it's only about 10 minutes walk from town.

Yeah, that's a bit weird. :s-smilie: According to my mum, back in the day, they used to be really strict about only Readers using it, but now they don't seem to be bothered. It's so useful for us Clare students!

one place not mentioned that is cheap(er) than City car parks is the Garden House Hotel - behind Peterhouse, next to the University Centre.

Apart from that - yes, it's already been said, but just to clarify -

1) UL Car Park - never checked, left car many-a-day there - only problem is that it's an arsey 15 min walk from town.

2) Herschel Road/Adams Road - both forming a 'circle' round Robinson. Free parking 24/7. Look it up on Google Maps.

3) Evenings/Sundays - the area around Catz is good. Queens' Road has free parking on Sundays, as does Kings Parade, as does the dodgy small roads round the back of New Museums/Corpus. Actually, if you're willing to risk it, New Museums is rarely (if ever) checked and a good 'free' central car park.

Nuff Said.

i know two friends at fitz who have cars and park them (quite legally) in the college car park.

and i also know of someone else who is at a college where cars are not allowed who drives and leaves his car over by sidgwick. gets clapmed sometimes, but has worked out an average termly clamp removal fee is cost-effective for him...
