# Finding range of y with a(x+b)^2+c ? watch

1. So I know that in a(x+b)^2+c the coordinates of the minimum/maximum point are (-b,c)
So b is x and c is y. So how do you answer a question where is asks state the range of y.
When do you put y>c and when do you put y<c? I always get it wrong!!
2. well if a is positive you get a U shaped curve, so there is a minimum at (-b, c)....

if a is negative it is a maximum.

the range is the set of possible y values...
