I won't tell you the answer but I'll try and help you get there yourself instead

    - What is in air that is not in pure nitrogen? I.e. what additional substances are available to the animal cells when air is bubbled through?

    - If rate of uptake is 0 when this substance is nor present, what does that suggest about the necessity of these substances in the process used to take it up?

    - What is required for passive diffusion vs. active transport?

    I hope that helps

Yes, it did help. Thank you.
    1. The air contains Oxygen. Animal cells need oxygen for aerobic respiration.
    2. Therefore, the uptake of 6-carbon sugars require energy since the rate of uptake is 0 when this oxygen is not present.
    Thanks you very much.
