Ikr. This Serial killer kills like 30+ people and police only know of 2 atm he won't tell them where the bodies are. In the doc Trevor asks why he killed his mums best friend and everyone he laughs and says ' dunno felt like it', he said he can kill, mutilate body and go have out and have dinner as normal. How damn twisted is that. When he said that, I felt giving his a hard back hand slap 😡
Was that the Jamie Campbell case?

As in, if he was still in prison for what he did, then it wouldnt of made a difference for him. There was a article about a inmate saying how Venebals got special treatment bcuz of his age
    Ahh im with you now.

Thats probably true (considering the prison system rarely gets an offender of that category at that age)....and he would always have to be put on segregated wings because of the risk involved with him in general population.

That being said......the public should be able to feel safe in the knowledge that he will never be free again and, bar the death penalty, that is the most severe punishment we have to offer.

Both the children responsible for the murder were given the maximum sentence you can issue to a minor. They went through a specially designed rehabilitation programme to allow them to reintegrate into society as reformed individuals under new assumed identities. Venables has cited that due to spending so much time in prison, he feels like he lost his childhood (ironic when you've murdered a child) so is still attracted to children as a result of this. Thompson has clearly embraced the rehab, or prison has done its job, and he has avoided reoffending.

The life time licence is probably enough of a deterrent, as any criminal conviction could see them back to prison to serve an indefinite stay.

What made them do it? They'd need to tell you that. It takes a special kind of evil to murder a 2 year old.

As someone who was in favour of the death penalty (before reading the replies), I don't think his identity should be released. I am not defending murder at any cost and people do have the right to know if a paedo/murderer is living next to them I agree. However, as another user stated, I reckon it is far worse to live with the knowledge of what you have done than to die itself. This may not be true for Venebles who has committed further offences; in his case, he should stay in prison. He shouldn't be given the opportunity to re-integrate with society. Thompson, however, has clearly rehabilitated successfully because (as far as I'm aware) he hasn't committed further offences. What good would the release of his identity do? Yes, he still participated in this awful, awful crime, but he was 10 and probably mentally unstable. He's now used the rehabilitation to his advantage and is now a threat-free member of society (as far as I know). Despite my former favour of the death penalty, I agree with those who wish for them to remain anonymous. Thompson is now successfully integrating with society so let him - don't ruin it by revealing his new name. As for Venebles, he should just stay in prison. They'd probably get killed if their names were released and despite their crime, killing them is still murder.

Funny thing is when bulgers mum said they werent punished they were infact rewarded I now understand what she meant. Let's be real they werent punished at all they live in a secure building with their own room, nice bed, tv, probably had toys and allowed outside. Basically a boarding school.

What your thoughts to why they might of killed him?
Premeditated for personal entertainment. They were basically on a crime spree, and bored. It's vile to describe it as such, but it was simply out of boredom.

I'm not saying it was a failed parenting/schooling situation, I think one of them was genuinely twisted as an individual and led the other down a dark path. Sad to say but I'd hazard a guess than Thompson was most likely the more methodical in the planning in the fact he's been able to rehabilitate, which is often the case. He's put some thought in to it, had slightly more grey matter behind the whole thing, and figures 8 years wasn't a bad stint for what he did. Venables meanwhile was led astray and unable to come back from it.

I doubt the conditions were quite as pleasant as you make out. A secure housing unit doesn't mean you get your own little palace, it means you get placed in isolation away from general populations.

Ian Brady for example used to threaten to kill himself if guards wouldn't play video games with him, so occasionally they do have to panda to the needs of high profile prisoners.

Prince Naseem deemed the beds unsuitable at the prison he was at, so bought his own bed in, on condition he could equip the gym facilities there out of his own pocket. Not too bad really given he only spent 16 weeks in an open nick, hardly a tough sentence.

I doubt those two were given quite the same treatment given when they were banged up, but I bet it wasn't your standard prison experience.

Idk why but to me it looked like Venebles was the ringleader instead of Thompson. When i first looked at their mugshots, Venebles had some dodgy face and that automatically made me think it was him who planned it but it was acc Thompson. Im pretty sure Jon was the one who carried it on?

Have you ever been around 2 kids where one keeps suggesting to the other what they should do, until the "weaker" of the two cracks and starts to feel like it was their idea?

"He wants to go to the park"
    "He wants to do this..."
"It was your idea to go to the park and do this..."

Thompson's professing of innocence doesn't wash with me. Neither in their mugshot seems particularly whiter than white.

A similar case to the Bulger one was the killing of Jamie Campbell, the 3 year old who was taken from his Grandmas garden by a 11 year old and he was also beaten to death
You seem like you really enjoy reading about these cases

But if hes locked up, then theres also a chance he will get killed by prisoners who know his identity and what he did
The more prisoners that know his identity then the more chance someone will have a pop.

I know this was directed at the OP so apologies for replying to you out of nowhere; I know OP said she didn't enjoy reading about cases like these, but like, even if OP did enjoy reading about these cases or whatever, what would be wrong with that? Just asking because I find crime interesting and yes, I enjoy reading about murder cases in particular...not because I condone the act of murder, but because I just have a fascination with crime. So that's why I'm replying to you out of nowhere because I want to know you seem uncomfortable with the thought of someone enjoying reading about these cases. Apologies if I completely misread your post and sorry for such a waffle of a reply.

ok so from my understanding, Venebles is the one who was found with child porn and has clearly not changed his life from crime. the other guy is irrelevant as far as im concerned because he's living happily and as far as we know hasn't committed a crime

so why are the liberals of TSR acting like snowflakes (yet again) when insiting his true identity should not be released? who gives a **** if people turn the vigilantes and start battering the man to death? he's an evil man and deserves every bit of treatment for not changing his ways. if people care so much about his precious life then lock him up for good. keep in mind this guy is in possession of indecent images of children.

I swear TSR always tries to take the moral high ground in this situation "aww boohoo his life is in danger", holy **** this guy is putting children's lives in danger if he ever gets released. but let's say he doesn't ever get released for arguements sake, the public should deserve to know his real name. this is the same for any criminal, not just venebles. will it bring back Bulger? **** no, but at least the monster behind his murder and the child porn is named and shamed to the public.

he has had his chance at a fresh start, he ****ed up. i should ****ing know if a guy who has the ability to molest children is living on my street.

The British justice system is a complete farce and quite frankly one massive joke.

This, how is it right that some war veterans are living on the streets. While a child murdering Peado gets his identity protected and a ridiculous prison sentence?

Let’s be honest if anyone does clobber him one, will anyone be hugely upset, will it be a huge loss ?

I believe they should never be realised for their grousome act, the little boy will never get the chance to live throughout his childhood and his mother and family will never see the little boy grow up attend school, ect.
But unfortunately UK isn't as harsh like USA and other countries therefore we have all the rights to know weather these 'scumbags' are around us or our innocent children and to know BOTH of their identities as funnily enough Jon wasn't the 'ring leader ' of killing the Tot.
