Well done those GCSE results are very good! I’ve just received an offer for Oxford to study Law so maybe I can help somewhat.

Firstly, I did not get all As and A*s at GCSE. I got 3A*s, 4As, 4Bs and 1C. There were people at the interviews who had much better GCSE results who weren’t offered a place. So regardless of what you get don’t think it means you’re guaranteed to get in or guaranteed not to get in!

They will look at it in context as well. So they will consider the quality of your school when deciding whether or not to offer you a place. They’ll also look at your postcode to figure out income, your parents’ job(s) etc etc.

Your A-Levels will be considered as a big part of your application too. There are plenty of children who excel at GCSE level but unfortunately cannot take their learning on to a higher level.

They will also be looking for a passion for the subject. Shown through your personal statement and reference and then at interview if you are invited.
