Hey there!! My friend is choosing her GCSE options and she has decided she wants to do

    English Literature
    English Language
    Maths
    Biology
    Chemistry
    Physics
    Spanish
    Drama
    Photography

And she gets one more option, but the school choose pathways for individual students based on their prior academic attainment, and is she is very academically able, she has been put on the highest level pathway, which requires her to take a humanity and a language. She really dislikes geography and history and so she doesn't want to take one of them, and instead she would rather study music. However, the school have said she needs to not only justify this decision but to also explain why she wants to do drama and photography more than music, before they will let her move down to her desired pathway. She can easily justify drama, but she doesn't know how to justify photography as she cannot explain why she loves it so much. She's doing it because to take it to A-Level she has to have the GCSE, and she really likes it so wants to take it to A-Level, so does anyone have any ideas of things she could use as reasons of why she wants to take it to let the school change their mind? Thank you

Answered your own question. She wnats to do it at A level, but presumably she would have to show that its relevant to the degree or career she wishes to pursie and wit would be relevant. Some marketing, design or creative subject.

Do some research on curses and careers where ist relevant.

    Also get her parents involved.

Personally I think Drama, Photography and Music are too many creatives , vut thats her choice. Creatives are specialised and will offer fewer opportunities at degree level on courses she can apply for. It matters less at GCSE though.
