I got similar grades to you and got offers from 4 RG unis to start studying in September
As you said, GCSEs aren’t the biggest influencer at all, it’s mainly A-Level grades and extra curricular / work experience things you do

Awesome congratulations! What universities did you receive offers from? Also what GCSE, AS and A- Level grades did you get? What course and what extracurricular activities did you do? Well done!

    Thank you
I received offers from UCL, Bath, Nottingham, York and Cambridge.
    My GCSE grades were 4 A*s, 3A’s, 2 B’s and 1 C.
    My AS grades were AAAA
I’m currently in year 13 And my predicted A-Level grades are A*A*A*A*A including EPQ
I’m going to study psychology and neuroscience or straight neuroscience (depending on which uni I put as my firm choice, haven’t decided yet).
I’ve done various extra curricular things like having 2 part time jobs, doing 5 or so work placements in hospitals, teaching Psychology to younger year groups, presenting assemblies, tutoring and mentoring and also teaching Spanish to various people, as well as running groups like a Politics and News group and a mental health awareness group and volunteering for Amnesty international
Wow that sounds incredible! Which university do you think you’ll go with? Which subjects did you get the B’s and the C in? My 3 predicted B’s are 2 science GCSE’s and maths.

    Thank you
And at the moment I’m conflicted between two choices so I’m not entirely sure yet!
At GCSE I got the B’s in physics and maths (my two weakest subjects) and the C in geography (I didn’t care for the subject at all). Do you know what course you’d like to study? 😊

I’d like to study Law LLB or History if I get into an expectational university like you! Just worried my GCSE grades aren’t good enough for oxbridge Law or even UCL etc. Everyone on here seems to have 13 A*’s at GCSE! 😖

Don’t worry it’ll be fine! I know what you mean but trust me, GCSE’s definitely aren’t the most important. Important to note as well that if your course requires an interview, the interview heavily influences their decision. They will also take into consideration some background info such as your school’s average grade rates and the area you live in. Your results aren’t bad at all but just for some reassurance, GCSE’s probably sit near if not at the bottom of the pile when it comes to factors that contribute to getting an offer at university!

No they don't. And for both Cambridge and Oxford their respective pre- or at- interview law tests are also important.

(Or HAT or HAA for History)

Your A-level performance is more important than GCSEs.

Choose Bath just to shock everyone who thinks a university has to be in the Russell Group to be any good! 😁

Haha for my course it’s rated 2nd in the UK, right in between Cambridge and Oxford 😁. That’s honestly the reason I applied there, I haven’t actually visited the department yet!
