I'm applying for student finance for the year 2018/19.

My nationality is Indian and I have an Indian passport.
My visa however is not a student visa.

I was contacted recently by Universities I applied to regarding my fee status and it seems I qualify for something known as 'Long residence' as I have been in the UK since 2007.

My question is am I eligible for student finance or am I regarded as an international student?

    Hi ahphazo1,
In order to determine your eligibility for Student Finance can you confirm so information.
If you are an Indian National and you have been in the UK since 2007, what is the status of your visa and what age are you currently?

    Thanks

Hello, I am 18 and have LTR.
    Hi ahphazo1,

To be eligible for funding you must fit the following criteria,

    • ROW nationals should hold either Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Indefinite Leave to Enter (ILE) status* and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the first day of the first academic year of the course or
    • ROW nationals can have Long Residency in the UK
      and
    • be ordinarily resident in the UK on the first day of the first academic year of the course; or
    • have settled status with no restrictions and resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the course start date.

ROW students can also be considered if they meet any of our exceptions criteria, such as a family member of an EEA national. Other exceptions include Humanitarian Protection (HP), Refugee status or Stateless.

    Thanks

    Catherine
