    Hi,

My son is a UK national who lived in UK for first 8 years of his life. He had to move from UK because he was dependent on his mother ( me), and I had to look after my mother's health in Pakistan.
Now that my son will turn 18 this year and can live with his father in UK, he will start his university in UK.
Can he be eligible for home student status and student loans?
Please keep in mind that my son couldn't live in UK 3 years prior to his course as he was dependent on me and I am a non-UK citizen.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Regards

    Hi Zainabhashmi,

For the student to be eligible for funding he must meet the following criteria,

    • Must be ordinarily resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the first day of the first academic year of the course and
    • be ordinarily resident in the UK on the first day of the first academic year of the course

    Thanks

    Catherine
