It is effective, its just harder to find a good acupuncturist as there are many systems within acupuncture, and it is not always centralized. Some schools teach one system, and some teach all systems, and they are effective for different conditions and so on.

As for clinical evidence, I don't know what she is talking about, as the NHS even recommends it, read this page here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/acupuncture/

That said, acupuncture does have more clinical evidence than even western medicine, it's just that very few people have read it, and its never been translated to english because firstly, its vast, secondly, the language it is written in, is no longer used in china, its an ancient version of chinese, with old terminology - this post explains it well: http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Is-Acupunc...7725117/g.html

Anyway, i have personally gotten treatments, and its about finding a good acupuncturist who knows what he or she is doing, makes a huge difference.

Selecting an acupuncturist is tricky, because we don't have much legislation in the UK at least, but this website helped me: http://www.bestacupuncturelondon.com...ist-in-london/

And obviously, make sure they are part of a recognised regulatory body - acupuncture has no mandatory regulation, so you will have to dig up what is a good organization that is strict on its policy for its practitioners.

I noticed that lower fees of acupuncturists usually means they don't know enough. I know it sounds weird but this is just my experience and not necessarily true for all cases.
