Hi everyone, I'm currently doing INTO Foundation in Physical Sciences and Engineering at INTO Newcastle University. Reason why I'm here because I flunked my A-Levels but I have been doing very well here. I applied for BSc Physics at several universities but I'm aiming for Durham and they declined my application. My teachers were very confident that I would get into Durham given my progress here at INTO and even said I'm "definitely a Durham student" but it is understandable that my rejection might have been caused by my poor A-Levels results. So far I have one offer pending since I have to attend an interview first (Manchester) before they'd be able to offer me, so I have yet to set firm and insurance choice.

I would like to know if there's any way I can reapply to Durham again without taking a gap year? Maybe through UCAS Extra, with the aid of references from my teachers/program manager to convince them that I have the potential? Or applying directly, or anything at all? Please help, I am so so disappointed given that my teachers were very confident of me and how Durham is my dream university..

    Thank you!

Ask for feedback. That's what will let you know what you need to do if you want to reapply.

The only people who can tell you are Durham.

I suspect you would have stood a much better chance if you had been doing the Durham Foundation course or equivalent, which to my recollection requires virtyally no qualifications. That would have got you in at the ground level and familiar with the lecturers and uni. They may simply have filled in enugh places from their own courses rather than accpet outsiders.

UCAS EXTRA wont work unless you apply for a different course. They have seen your application, just et an idea of what they thought. If its your dream then find out whether it cna be saved and apply next year or a different course in clearing.
