I have so much anger in me towards my boyfriend. Due to things me and him have been through. We can be happy and then I will think about something and get angry or flip out.

Tell him about it. Clear the air. Eventually, you won’t feel angry about these things anymore, as he’ll have coughed up a good explanation for them.
Or... it can go the other way, but if that happens, he’s not a great boyfriend, is he?

Maybe try to talk to him about the issues that seem to be making you bitter. If he doesn't listen or take your feelings on board or you feel like you can't get past them then it doesn't sound like a very healthy relationship to be in, honestly.

From personal experience having that much resentment and anger towards someone will not really go away unless you take yourself out of the situation.

Well, not necessarily. Sometimes a long conversation can go a long way. Depends on the boyfriend, though.
