Hello. I started my application yesterday and for my children it requires ID. Is a British passport not accepted?

    Hi Winner Winner,

If you're the student, and you're applying for Grants for Dependents (GFD's), a clear photocopy of the photograph page of the childs passport can be accepted. Just to give you heads up, we also require a copy of either your tax credits award notice or child benefit letter, naming your child/children.

    Kind regards,

    John.

    Hi Winner winner,

You will be pleased to know that if your children have valid UK passports, you can enter the passport details online during the application process.

Just in case anyone else is looking for this information. I spoke to SFE on the phone today, as it wasn’t an option in the drop down menu and they said I can’t use passports as I can just order birth certificates for my children. Seems ridiculous to me.

    Hi Winner winner,

I am sorry I misinterpreted your question, I thought you were making an application for support on behalf of your children.

If you are the student and applying for Grants for Dependants,

We require a photocopy of the Child's Birth Certificate (for each child).
    • Another copy can be requested from the registrars office.
    • If the Child's Birth Certificate cannot be provided then we can accept a photocopy of the child's valid Passport with a cover letter explaining the reason.

    Thank you
    Rona
