I suffer from depression OCD and I'm bothered by how many girls think they can beat deep-seated biological tendencies.

Honestly, why do girls do this? I hardly know any guys who go for girls with borderline personality disorder or smth.

Literally all the girls I've ever been with thought I suffer from those things 'cos I hadn't met as wonderful a person as they are to help me change the way I think.

Is this thing common or have I just been unlucky? (or lucky depending on how you see it)

Lots of people who don’t understand mental illness think that if they make you happy it’ll “fix” you. They don’t get that you could have great relationships, friends, a job and text book good life and still be mentally ill. So they come into your life and, with the best intentions, try to cure you. Then after a few months when you’re still ill, they get frustrated and don’t understand how you can still be depressed when they gave you everything.

I don’t have a solution, but hopefully the next person you date isn’t a problem and loves you for your bad traits as well as your good.

I'm ngl, If I got involved with someone like that I would probably think I could "fix" them too

    2 parts.
    1. im a guy and i sort off get attracted to girls who have minor problems with mental health such as insecurity (i don't think i can fix them but that i can support and help them deal with it.)
    2. ive had something similar (not mental health but not too different that it has no correlation). ive had girls who think they can "fix" my kinks (im a dom, which is a male dominant, and im into the full BDSM scene) and they just can't. i think its a thing with the girl really wanting to stay with you but not liking that one thing so they think they can change it so that you are perfect. my advice either explain to them that they can't fix it and hopefully they'll understand or get out of that relationship as she won't be happy because she can't "fix" you and you won't be happy because they are trying to "fix" you
