im angry - im 16 and had a summer job in retail for nearly 3 months and resigned cause the hours were too long and im in school. since then, ive been looking everywhere for jobs, i mean everywhere. before the summer job i applied at m and s and passed but i was the last interview so was told the vacancy was filled so i was gonna have to wait until another suitable one popped up, which they didnt because it was summer and everyone looks for a job in summer. however, i found a perfect one last month. basically i was told i could get a job within the company within 6 months, so i apparently missed this by 13 days. i was angry, they didnt contact me with any suitable vacancies which they said they'd do, so i didnt see the vacancy until quite a while after. anyway, i applied everywhere on indeed, handed in my cv literally everywhere and i called a few places back after 2-3 weeks asking about my application and they said the vacancy had been filled.

why would they not email me or anything saying i didnt get it? why the hell cant i get a job? i also have 6 months experience in a charity shop. im confused.

I understand your frustration, finding a job can be tough. What is your CV like? Perhaps it needs modifying. Remember should aim to tailor your CV for every job application you send.

It's fairly common to get employers not contact applicants about the status of their application, I would say if they hadn't contacted you after a few weeks then assume you didn't get it. What sort of job are you looking to do? Perhaps look to do some retail work in a charity shop or maybe consider helping out at a restaurant, a lot of high street ones advertise for vacancies.

thanks for your reply. my cv has been checked by my careers advisor at school, my parents and my sisters. i'd like to think thats not the problem i spent so long on it!! ) ive checked charity shops, and most of them require full time and the one part time i found required a driving license which i dont have. ive applied for restaurants and haven't gotten any. and yeah its just annoying that they dont even email u saying they wont be considering my application any further.
