# Linear Programming Question (Further Maths) watch

1. Unsure about the answer to a lengthy linear programming question. To sum it up: the optimal solution was (6,7) and this question asks you to then reduce the time for a constraint based on this solution. I found that the constraint 7x+8y=112 could be reduced, as 7*6+8*7 = 98. So I did 112-98 = 14 hours time reduction, however the mark scheme says the answer is 7 hours and does not explain why.

Please could someone explain why the actual answer is half of mine?

Without seeing the question and markscheme, I can only guess.

My guess would be that the original constraint was , and it was doubled to produce the one you have. So, the 112, represents half-hours, rather than hours.
