1. 'The drummer's toe pushes with a 1.5N force on the foot pedal
the perpendicular distance from the pivot to the force is 0.12m
the perpendicular distance from the pivot to the chain is 0.20 m
calculate the force of the chain acting on the foot pedal'

the answer was 0.9 (0.18/0.2)
However where does the 0.18 and 0.2 come from?
Thank You! Xxxx
2. The 0.2 is be the distance from the pivot to the chain, and the 18 is the moment of the other bit, ie the force x distance of the pedal

Thank You! However when you subtract 0.12 from 0.20 that gives 0.08. Isn't that how you figure out the distance from the pivot to the chain?
(sorry to bother once again)
4. You're told the distance from the pivot to the chain. "the perpendicular distance from the pivot to the chain is 0.20 m"

You don't have to subtract anything.

Would I be right in guessing this question came without a diagram? With a diagram I think it would have been more obvious to you.
