It means the students are more satisfied. Unsurprisingly.

Oxford are not just better than Cambrige - they have been higher than anyone else each year for the last decade.

Oxford does have exceptionally high student satisfaction.

This is based on the NSS survey which is submitted voluntarily by med students in their final year. The reason schools tend to get poor satisfaction is generally admin-related. Lots of bureaucracy, being slow and disorganised, and not responding to student feedback. Oxford does all those things well - far fewer log books and sign offs than most med schools, much less compulsory ward attendance than many, and relatively speaking a quick and efficient admin office. For example, finals results are given the same day as the final exam. There's also the head of the med school - Dr Tim Lancaster - who everyone loves, although i hear he is leaving.

This is all helped by it being a very small med school of only 150ish students per year.

As to whether that makes the course better - you decide how much weight to attach.
