I live in student halls and its been all nice and rosy until a couple of days ago when the girl who shares a wall with me started playing her music, very loud, basically everyday for several hours on end. once i woke up at 6 and she was at it again, and the night before she'd had it on till nearly 1! I have texted her about it and from her replies it seemed she was getting the message, and she stopped for a few hours, yes just a few, and resumed later in the day. how best can i handle this?

Go knock on her door while the music is playing and ask her to come to your room and hear how loud it is to you. Agree on an acceptable volume during the day and a time when she needs to switch to headphones. If she keeps breaking your compromise then report her.

Ask her again and if she continues then complain about the noise. What else can you do except ask her to be a nice, considerate person?
