    I was thinking of taking A Level economics but not taking A level Maths, is this ok or is maths A Level crucial even though I have a good general grasp of maths.

    No, but it does have maths in it.

    If you ever decide to take it at A level then a small number of unis prefer or insist upon Maths, but not Economics. If you are good at maths then imo it is a good choice at keeping your options open.

    Also talk to the teacher.

    If you want to study Economics at university, I'd say take A-Level Maths (and Further Maths if you're aiming for the very best universities). But for A-Level Economics, you certainly do not need much mathematical knowledge at all.
