AQA annoying conventional representation (Electrochemistry) watch

    E=0.40V O2 + 2H2O + 4e– → 4OH–
    E=-0.83V 2OH– + H2 → 2H2O + 2e–

    the ms says the following:
    Pt|H2(g)|OH–(aq),H2O(l)||O2(g) |H2O(l),OH–(aq)|Pt
    H2O not essential

    I get the last part from O2 to H2O
    I don't see how the first part is H2 to OH-, the reactant is H2 but there is no product that has OH- the product that is oxidised is H2O and it says to ignore H2O.
