Does an EPQ count towards anything?

I think you get UCAS points, and sometimes it helps to lower one entry requirement?

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone..

For some courses (not medicine, going by your username), they may lower the entrance requirements by a grade if you get certain grades in your EPQ.
You get some UCAS points, and it's an opportunity to gain a qualification by researching a topic you're interested. It also gives you something to talk about in your personal statement or interviews.

I personally didn't do one but I can definitely see why people would.

I did EPQ, and it did not lower any of my offers but I do think it made my application stronger. Some people in my school got lowered offers after getting a high EPQ grade, but not the majority. An EPQ is seen as ‘half an a level’ which I think is a bit of a stretch. Regardless of what it is worth, I think it’s really useful and it formed the basis of my personal statement and showed that I’m capable of doing undergraduate style work.
