# Maths (Mechanics) question. watch

1. I am struggling with this easy question and I really do not know why.
Can someone help me?

Find the acceleration:

Objects A and B lie on a smooth horizontal surface and are connected by a light inextensible string.
A has mass 8.2kg B has mass 2.3 kg. A is pulled with a force of 9 N, as shown. Find the acceleration of the system and the tension in the string.

What I did:
F=ma
(1) 9-T=8.2a
(2) T=2.3a
(1)+(2)= 9=10.5a
A = 0.86 ms^-2
B = 1.97N

I get the same. Why do you think they are incorrect?
