A pure sample of fat was known to be a triester of propane-1,2,3- triol with a fatty acid.

0.15 mil of the fat required 10.8 dm^3 of hydrogen at room temperature and pressure for complete hydrogenation.

Identify which fatty acid formed the triester.
    A) Palmitic acid , C15H31COOH
    B) Linoleic acid , C17H31COOH
    C) Oleic acid , C17H33COOH
    D) Stearic acid , C17H35COOH

Hydrogen reacts with the double bonds in unsaturated compounds in a ratio of 1 mol H2 per mol double bond

Can you see where to go from here?

I got so far that moles of H required (using the molar gas volume equation) is 10.8/24.0 = 0.45 moles. I don’t know what else to do, been stuck on this for ages. 😂

Does that mean there’s a mole ratio of 1:3
