I was thinking bout how Exeter uni would be fi a black urban londoner with a ‘roadman’ accent and lingo. I’ve heard bare stories bout the poshness and rumours of ‘white privilege’ (loooool, das everywhere still) of the uni . Would I struggle socialising with ppl??

I'm not at Exeter (I'm at Edinburgh, a university which some may perceive to be as posh/even posher than Exeter) but I really doubt you'll "struggle" to fit in. Yes, there are probably certain cliques/groups of people that self-select themselves into certain social groups, but that's most likely the minority. This goes for most universities with a high proportion of privately educated students, not just Exeter.

As long as you make an effort to go to societies, speak to people during welcome week/at the start of lectures then you'll have no problem making friends.

Honestly, most people here are normal. There is a noticeable contingent that will literally never make an effort to socialise with you if you're not from the boarding school set, but those people are mostly confined to the really expensive halls (i.e. Holland and Penny C). Even within these halls, they're the minority.

Yeah, overall it's posh.. So is every good uni. Most people are middle/upper middle class - yes. Does it matter? No. Everyone here in general is super friendly and open. If you stick to the popular self-catered halls and get involved with socieities, you'll probably have a solid social life in first year. Exeter is very big on socieities so def get in with that.

As a side note.. girls here like black guys
