Hi i just need some help
i was revising how to construct the passive voice
using- subject+form of the verb+past participle+por+agent
it said when constructing it in this case that the past participle must agree in terms of number and gender. however when i went to construct it using the impersonal se the past participle isn't affected by gender or number
for example
METHOD 1- unos loros de Centroamérica han sido traídos en esas jaulas
METHOD 2- se han cerrado las puertas ya.
I don't know if i am being stupid but i just really don't understand.

Your Method 1 is the "true" passive voice with ser as an auxiliary verb - which is why the past participle behaves like an adjective and has to agree.
Your Method 2 is not in the passive voice! It is a structure in the active voice, used to avoid the passive. Which is why the past participle, now not an adjective, does not agree.
So:
Las puertas han sido cerradas - cerradas is an adjective and agrees with the subject, las puertas.
Las puertas se han cerrado - there is no ser in this sentence, so your past participle is not an adjective - you just use the basic past participle with no agreement: cerrado.
