I am currently at my first year of university studying a degree in classical studies and drama. However before coming to university I originally planned on going to drama school the only problem was that I was so busy during my final year of college that I missed the application deadlines for drama schools. Because I didn't just want to sit at home and do nothing I decided to do a more academic degree at university. I applied and got an unconditional. But now I can't decide whether to apply for drama schools now and if I get into one drop out or finish my three year degree at university and then go to drama school. I like university and I go to a good one but I don't like all the political agenda being forced in my face when it's not even nessercary (I won't go into that as I don't want this to be too long). Also I have made friends and even got a girlfriend since being here. What do you think? Has anyone been in a situation like this before? What advice can you give me? Thank you for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any advice you will be able to give me.

You're in first-year, so you are still in the early stages of your degree. Imho dropping out at this stage isn't a silly choice and if you're unhappy with the university/course then I would probably start looking at some drama schools/alternative courses (more importantly, see what their entry criteria are, whether or not you need to submit a portfolio and what the application process is like).

It's tough for me to give specific advice as this is a very niche situation and ultimately it's going to be a personal choice.

Have you spoken to your family, GF and also your Personal Tutor at university about this?
