I am doing Maths, Economics, Physics and epq. I aim to get A or A* for them. And I am also doing AS Further Maths. Since it is not part of my offer, I mainly focus my revision for my a level subjects. What happens if I get a bad grade for AS FM. Will this look bad on CV or it won't matter since I have 3 a-levels. I know that I need to put any grade I have on it but I just can't find enough time to do proper ASFM revision alongside important a level revision. Is it one of the situations where you can make everything worse by taking more work?
    Thank you

In a sense, it could look slightly worse than 3 grades on their own, however each uni will look at your application differently. If you've already had an offer and it's not included, it's highly unlikely to have any impact whatsoever.

Which universities have you applied to?

No problem, hopefully that puts your mind at ease a bit

Those are good choices, what will you be studying? If you don't mind me asking of course!

I will be studying mathematics and physics joint degree. I also have one offer just for Maths, but doing both subjects seems more interesting to me

    Yes! Very good choice indeed!

I always wanted to do a physics or maths degree, but like you, a joint one would also appeal to me.

Instead though I've gone down an apprenticeship route in Engineering, so it'll be a while before I apply to any universities - how plans change!

Loughborough was always one I was curious about - did you go to an Open Day?

I want to do it cause I like it. But I have to prioritise main subjects revision which means that I have less time for this. I was self-studying it and I finished, but I started to forget it quickly as I wasn’t doing it for a while

Well, where do you want to go? Some places like UCL and Imperial don't consider AS grades at all for most subjects

This sounds really nice. I think it is very interesting to do engineering as an apprenticeship

Unfortunately, I didn’t go to an Open Day, but my classmates say that it’s a good place and it seems that everyone liked it

I am considering Warwick, Bath or Loughborough, I am not entirely sure yet.

I know that AS grades generally don’t have significant value but I was interested to do more Maths so I decided to do that.

    Thanks for your kind words!

It does come highly recommended, that's the only reason I've heard about it.

Hope everything goes well for you though. Hope you meet your offer (or exceed it!) and that you can still get a good grade in Further Maths.

I wouldn’t worry about it! My sister began AS FM in A2 as well and it wasn’t part of her offer to do well in it (so she stopped going to her lessons..). She got an E in it and is now at Bath doing Physics As long as you do well in your other subjects, you should be fine!

No worries! I think she began an EPQ as well but she didn’t follow through with it.. (she’s a bit of an odd one...) Everything’ll work out, I’m sure!
